The First Look

To do a first look or not to do a first look? THAT is the real question. They're trendy, fun, and make for the BEST photos for your album! But it is so much more than that...

On the morning of my own wedding I remember being so nervous. I couldn't eat anything, I was feeling so weak and anxious! The only thing that was getting me through the morning was knowing I was going to get to see Justin before having to walk down the aisle in front of all our family members and friends. When the time finally came I walked around the house into the backyard where Justin was waiting for me. He was facing away the other way so I could sneak up behind him and tap him on the shoulders. The minute he turned around and saw me, the anxiety and nervousness vanished. We both had the biggest smiles on our faces and we got to spend a few moments together, just the two of us...and our photographers ;)

I don't regret for one moment doing a first look. It gave us the chance to stand in front of each other, take it all in, and then talk and spend time together before the busyness of our day set in. I knew that if I had just walked down the aisle to him we both would have had so many things we wanted to say in that moment of seeing each other for the first time. As someone who did a first look on her wedding day I absolutely don't have anything against going traditional and not seeing each other until the ceremony. The first look isn't for everyone and you really have to make the decision between you and your fiancé.
