Tyler and Rylee met through mutual friends. On their first day they went to K-Days (An annual fair with rides and games and food vendors!) A perfect first date...or so it seemed. They were having lots of fun together, getting to know each other better and going on different rides, when they were on one particular ride. Rylee was feeling quite queasy. When the ride ended they got off and looked quite nuaseous . Tyler pointed to a garbage can and Rylee went for it. Now, I'd say that is a very memorable first date. It clearly did not deter either of them from seeing each other again as they continued going out!
In July 2020 they took a trip to the mountains where they frequently went on day trips. They hiked up to Rawson Lake in Kananaskis. It was a beautiful summer day and when they got to the top Tyler got down on one knee to ask Rylee to be his wife!!
Eight months later we are in Banff for their wedding day. I started off with doing Tyler's getting ready photos with his family. It started to snow these beautiful, huge snowflakes so I had to get some of Tyler outside! Then I went up to Rylee's room and captured her getting ready photos with her aunt, best friends, and a close family friend who was doing her hair. Rylee had a wonderful relaxed morning and then we got her in her dress and brought her down to see her fiancé, and very soon-to-be husband, for their first look in the ballroom!! They shared their vows after their first look and it was the sweetest, most intimate moment. They had their ceremony surrounded by their family and a couple close friends, and me! Afterwards we went outside onto the terrace for their family photos and the sky had opened up to let the sun peek out and their backdrop was just incredible!
Once we were shooting just Tyler and Rylee's photos we took them to a lookout spot where you could see the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in the backdrop. You can't tell by these photos by I was standing in the middle of the road and unknowingly stopped traffic for a few shots!! After that we went downtown and grabbed some Beaver Tail. We got lots of horns honking, people cheering and congratulated them and Rylee very much enjoyed all the attention ;) None of us had had Beaver Tail before and it was WELL worth it!! Finally, we headed out to Minnewanka Lake for some more photos of just the two of them and then we said our goodbyes!
It was an absolutely gorgeous day and a dream come true for me to be able to shoot an elopement in Banff, at the Fairmont Hotel.
